St. Luke’s Ministry provides highly motivated individuals with the training and additional support needed to pursue a career as a Nurse Aide in the high-demand healthcare profession. Although the work can be demanding, compassionate individuals who enjoy helping others are likely to find working as a Nurse Aide to be an extremely rewarding career. 

After state certification, Nurse Aides provide hands-on, one-on-one assistance to clients in a wide range of settings, such as nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, mental health facilities and private homes.  Depending upon the setting, the duties of a Nurse Aide might include:

  • St. Luke's Ministry Nurse Aide Training ProgramHelping clients with activities of daily living and basic tasks, such as bathing, dressing, getting in/out of bed, walking, etc.
  • Measuring and recording a client’s temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rate, fluid intake and output, etc.
  • Responding to client’s call signals
  • Providing clients with emotional and social support
  • Alerting medical staff to changes in a client’s physical, mental or emotional well-being

The country, including Colorado, is facing a shortage of healthcare professionals, including Nurse Aides.  In Denver, entry-level Nurse Aides earn approximately $12/hr.  With some experience, a Nurse Aide can be hired in a hospital setting and earn $15 – $17/hr. plus health benefits and stipends towards continued education and career advancement.

To become certified as a Nurse Aide in Colorado, you must:

  • Successfully complete a state-approved Nurse-Aide training program (such as the training program offered by St. Luke’s Ministry)
  • Successfully pass the Colorado Nurse Aide Certification exam
